IT’S HERE!
Our first full-length, All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go, is finally complete! It’s been a long time coming since we first started working on it in the fall of 1953, but we picked the CDs up from the printer’s yesterday and they look fantastic. No one can deny this is a thing that now exists! At last, our long national nightmare is over!

If you’d like to get your hands on a copy, we cordially invite you to our CD release show, on January 18th, two weeks from tonight at the SLG Art Boutiki & Gallery in San Jose. It will also be available digitally from iTunes and our Bandcamp page on the same day, and at all future shows. Tons of Bay Area shows are in the works, as well as LA and beyond.
In the meantime, you can listen to the first few tracks over on bandcamp, and keep tabs on our EVERY MOVE on Facebook and Twitter, like a real CREEP. #socialmedia #DONDA #pleaseRT
hello, friends and lovers. long time no tumbl. (this post is off to a great start.) how have you been? your hair looks great. are those new shoes? they’re really cute. you always find such great stuff, i don’t know how you do it!
oh, we’ve been alright. we recently finished recording our debut full-length over at hyde street studios with our producer scott mcdowell. we were joined by some of our good friends in finish ticket and the y axes, who came in and laid down backing vocals on a number of tracks. it was a blast. love those guys! but that’s not really what we came here to talk to you about.
we are currently in the running for a chance to play the rhythms music festival on april twenty-sixth at the sfsu library annex with THE HOOD INTERNET and TORO Y MOI. but we need your help! all you need to do is go to this picture of us over on the festival’s facebook page and click “like” to vote for us. that’s it! voting ends this sunday at midnight. tell all your friends! PLEASE RT!
love,
evan.
YOU GUYS.
this weekend, we will be heading back into the studio to continue work on our as-yet-untitled debut full-length. we will be moving from tiny telephone over to hyde street studios, where our ep was mixed, for the remainder of recording/mixing. scott mcdowell, producer and earth’s greatest living human, will be behind the boards once more. the spirit of papa john creach will be there as well, presumably, watching over us and guiding our every move towards psychedelic glory, and sneaking in sweet-ass fiddle solos, probaby.
we’ll be working on guitar and bass this session, then returning a bit down the road to do all the vocals and finishing touches, hopefully with a bunch of our friends in tow to form a big and probably drunken choir to lay down backing vocals and junk. however, we will be picking one song from the tracklisting to try and complete this weekend, which will then go on to be featured on “better days ahead, vol. 2,” the second compilation by our friends over at 20 sided records! it will be a sprawling, two-disc affair, with roughly a million billion amazing local bands that we have no business being mentioned in the same sentence as, quite frankly. there will also be a huge three-day release party over at kimo’s later in the summer, but more on that later.
in the meantime, those of you who are twitter-inclined can follow us at @bearsbearsbears, where we will be posting all manner of nonsense ramblings and studio updates and pictures of burritos and stuff, probably. of course, there’s always here, as well as facebook and bandcamp. but not myspace, right guys??* haha, SOCIAL MEDIA.
so stop by (via the internet) and say hello. help us figure out what to title our record! we are terrible at naming things! we named ourselves BEARS! BEARS! BEARS!, with exclamation points! THREE OF THEM!
love,
evan.
*actually, we still do have a myspace, i think. don’t tell the cool kids.
man, remember when myspace was a thing? like, a viable tool for musicians? what do we have now? bandcamp and soundcloud are great for hosting downloads, but lack the social aspect that myspace offered. there’s twitter, of course. and facebook, but it’s just not the same for music. it is, however, roughly the same for scene girls looking to post eighty minuscule variants of the same stupid duckface picture. (haha, LADIES BE TRIPPIN’, AMIRITE?)
are scene girls still a thing? i feel i might be more out of touch with the kids and their crazy big band music than i had originally thought.
anyway, SHOWS!
we will be playing nickel city this friday. you would be hard pressed to find a better show in an arcade environment. not only will it be our return to the place where we had our first show EVER (some twenty-five years ago), but it will be mere days after our guitarist ricky’s birthday (which is today, in fact; everyone go shout “sic semper tyrannis” and then stab him with the daggers you have hidden in your togas), so we’ll all be in the mood to party and get nuts and snort all manner of cocaine and four loko in the parking lot!* people snort four loko, right?
we’ll be playing once more with our friends the better maker (no “s,” just ignore the flier and listings), as well as new friends skyway view, reid saw a ghost, and rat trap.

you can buy tickets here, if so inclined, and you can find a facebook event page here.
so come out and drink yoohoo and play street fighter and party with us until we are all purple!
love,
evan.
*no we will not. well, maybe.
hi hi hi there.
i hope you have all been enjoying this delightful weather we’ve been having as much as i have, provided, of course, that you are like me, and love gloom and cold and rain, and also the ronettes. (side bar: HOLY SHIT new phil spector remasters next week! but more on that later, maybe.)
we’ve been laying low for the past few months, working on our first full-length over at tiny telephone, drinking chocolate milk, counting down the days til the release of pokémon black & white, but mostly just hibernating, as bears are wont to do this time of year. (though it’s essentially been spring here in the bay area for the last few weeks. upper-sixties in mid february? oh, california.)
well, now we’re BACK in full force, and we’re playing a show this wednesday at the red devil lounge in san francisco! it’ll be our first time playing the rdl, and we’re all pretty jazzed about it. also on the bill are lovely lady-and-gentlemen the better maker, as well as the apparently-shrouded-in-mystery-but-probably-still-lovely axe wounds.
r.m. of the better maker has put together this snazzy flier for the evening:

in other news, our bros-4-lyfe evacuee have just put out a new album called “property type: horse ranch,” and it is the greatest thing anyone has ever done, ever. they are seriously one of my favorite bands in the bay area or anywhere. you can listen to/download both their albums over at their website or on itunes, and you can also get our ep “what i do in the dark” over at our bandcamp page, or come by the show and pick up one of the snappy cd-rs that i put together all by my lonesome.

love,
evan.

Why does no one talk about Smart House anymore?

When’s the Blu-Ray release?
LOL,
Ricky
hi hi hi there.
next thursday we will be playing a show at our very favorite san francisco venue, the retox lounge! it is sure to be an evening of utmost excitement and exuberance for all. things should get going between eight and nine in the evening (i’m afraid it’s quite impossible to be sure, as ours is a highly cavalier, free-wheeling rock and roll lifestyle - but perhaps that goes without saying.) so be sure and arrive early as we will likely be performing FIRST!
the lineup is as follows:
here is a flyer for the evening, designed by myself, using the art of the lovely bear welch (no relation to us).

so come out and say hello. we will likely STILL be moderately drunk and sobbing over toy story 3. it is somewhat troubling what an impregnable stranglehold pixar has on our emotions.
love,
evan.
Good news, everyone!
Here’s a flyer for our next show! It’s an Odd Owl CD release party at Kimo’s in San Francisco! It’s sure to be an awesome night so don’t miss it! Spirits will be high! We’ll be showing off even more new material as well. We’ll also probably be drunk, sobbing over the ending of Toy Story 3. Though, to be fair, who isn’t on a Sunday night?
JULY 11TH - 9PM - KIMO’S

XLOVE,
PHILL
